StanChart Exits Vietnamese Bank ACB after 12-Year Link

Standard Chartered APR Limited and Standard Chartered Bank (Hong Kong) Limited have transferred a combined 154.1 million shares, equivalent to a 15% stake, they held of ACB to four foreign investors, according to an announcement by the Vietnam Securities Depository (VSD).
The buyers include Estes Investments Limited, Sather Gate Investments Limited, Boardwalk South Limited, and Whistler Investments Limited.
It’s noteworthy that Estes Investments Limited, Sather Gate Investments Limited, and Whistler Investments Limited each hold exactly 51.314 million ACB shares, equivalent to 4.99% stake.  
According to Vietnamese legislation, shareholders which hold 5% or more in a public company must disclose information of every transaction they make.
In mid-2005, Standard Chartered Bank spent $22 million to own an 8.56% stake in ACB. The shares were acquired at a price of 62,000 dong each, according to the Saigon Times.
In 2008, Standard Chartered Bank bought the whole 6.16% stake in ACB from the International Finance Corp., the private investment arm of the World Bank Group. The holding increased by 7.1% when Standard Chartered Bank bought convertible bonds issued by ACB.
ACB shares, which are listed on the Hanoi Stock Exchange, are hovering 40,000 dong ($1.76) each. With the disposal, Standard Chartered Bank has booked proceeds of 6.16 trillion dong ($271.5 million).
